I'm drawing again. I've got new pencils (Derwent Inktense and watercolor pencils) and I'm trying out big Bristol board. It's already pretty crappy, but I keep reading that beginners should keep muddling through their early works, even if they're bad, and that you shouldn't throw them away as an accident or a mistake may turn out to be a blessing (a "happy accident" as Bob Ross would have said). It's hard because I want to be perfect from the start, and the wet side of the watercolor pencils is so hard to control. So I'll keep going and post it no matter what I think of it, since I haven't put anything up in months.
On a different note, the Minneapolis Institute of Art is holding a once-every-ten-years event called Foot in the Door. It's an opportunity for anyone to put a work up on their gallery walls. No work is refused as long as it fits in a 12x12x12 inch cube (there are other rules like no explosives or bodily fluids, etc). I was thinking of cutting down either "The Me I See" or "Er Liegt in Den Einzelhieten" and submitting them. What do you think? I'd set up a poll, but I don't know how.
Anyway, look for a new drawing soon!
